Samuel Turner, from
Houston to San Marcos
Samuel or Sam Turner made a big decision when he decided to
come to San Marcos to attend Texas State University. He not only left behind
his hometown but his previous institution. Turner transferred from the University
of Houston to Texas State following his sophomore year.
After making the transition to San Marcos, Turner set down
the path of Electronic Media within the School of Journalism and Mass
Communication (SJMC). Turner has no clear idea for what the future of his
professional development will look like. He just knows that he hopes to work in
either radio or news in the future.
Turner has already been productive in making his dreams a
reality. He is currently a music assistant for the university’s local radio
station KTSW, as well as a student in SJMC’s Study in America Program. Turner
will be visiting Yosemite national park this summer along with 12 other
students for class credit. Although Turner has never been to a national park
before, he is looking forward to this experience.
Park experience: Turner has only ever visited Texas State
Parks.
Looking forward to: Turner is looking forward to being out
and in nature.
