Kaylee Smith is a senior Texas State University public relations major from Austin, Tx and currently works for the Common Experience program at Texas State. Smith was originally interested in doing public relations from being around the great music scene in Austin growing up and says that while she doesn’t have any musical talent, she wanted to be a part of the community through her PR expertise.

Smith is looking forward to getting some hands-on experience through this trip and learning outside of the classroom through the Study in America program through Texas State in which she and 12 other students will be travelling to California to visit Yosemite National Park. Smith has been to several other parks in Colorado, namely Estes Park, and Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina.

Smith’s camping experience come from going camping with her dad in the mountains growing up, although she also likes to mix up her camping trips with beach visits. Smith has always wanted to go to the big-name parks like Yosemite and Yellowstone, and is really looking forward to this trip.
